Should women have it all? Is this an elusive dream for African women? What does this look like in a world with high migration, failing economies, and mental health issues on the rise? Does having it all look the same to all women? On the 19th of August, book enthusiasts and advocates for women’s empowerment will gather at the Shardonnay Wine Bar in Lusaka for a thought-provoking event. Join us as we profile 3 African Women responding to these questions and more from their unique stories shared through their books. Renowned book reviewers Anna Zgambo and Selina Zigomo will lead the panel discussion, joined by Zambian Authors Jayne Mazimba, Natasha Omokhodion-Kalulu Banda, and Naluki Mutumwa Lubasi. Together, they will delve into the complexities of balancing personal and professional aspirations, relationships, and societal expectations that modern-day women face.
While it’s certainly possible for women to excel in different areas of their lives, finding the perfect balance can be challenging. Each woman’s definition of “having it all” may vary, depending on her personal values, priorities, and circumstances. It’s important to recognize that achieving a sense of fulfilment and balance is a continuous journey that requires self-reflection, setting boundaries, and making choices that align with one’s own aspirations and values. Thank you to our sponsors Shardonnay Bar, Umoyo, The Crest Lodge and Lulu for partnering with us for this event.
